Our Story

Coffee     People     Mountains

Nestled at 9,100 feet in the heart of the iconic Colorado Rockies lies Mountain Dweller Coffee Roasters, a family-owned and operated artisan roastery. Mountain Dweller Coffee Roasters is excited to offer you carefully crafted, seasonal coffee that’s directly traded from the world’s most sought-after producing regions.

Our love for coffee started when we were in college studying in Milwaukee. Some of our favorite memories include visiting the myriad of third wave coffee roasters that were on the east side. We found that the café scene provided not only a beautifully crafted beverage, but also a passage way to another place, culture and time. There’s something about the smell of freshly roasted coffee that will always spark those memories for us and will encompass a feeling of coziness and well-being.

Fast forward 15 years, now our home base is Summit County, Colorado, along with our two daughters. The craggy and gentle mountains, ever changing wilderness and free-spirited people has happily kept us here for all these years. Coffee continues to be an integral part of our lives, to the point that Josh started roasting his own coffee in a popcorn popper in our garage. We were blown away by the amazing, naturally sweet flavors that a coffee seed presents once roasted! We followed our instincts and passion and eventually bought a drum roaster and learned to roast in order to produce high quality coffee for Summit County.

The best part of this journey is discovering the world of coffee! We quickly realized that our focus is to always choose seasonal, high quality green beans that are directly traded from the coffee farmer in order to promote sustainable and economical practices. Stay tuned to follow our blog for more info on these topics!

Whether you’re a passionate coffee drinker or just beginning to explore the world of specialty coffee, our small-batch roasted coffee provides an easy going and approachable way for you to discover the unique regional flavors with a fresh perspective.

Our Coffee

Coffee production and roasting is truly an art and science, and fun! Therefore, it’s important to us to share what it takes to mindfully produce a delicious cup of coffee, from the coffee shrub to your mug.

The coffee you enjoy each day has taken a long journey from planting, harvesting, processing, drying and milling to exporting, roasting, grinding, brewing and tasting. At Mountain Dweller Coffee Roasters, we’re fueled by sustainably farmed and ethically traded coffee, allowing coffee producers to make premium prices in exchange for coffee quality.

There’s typically just one major coffee harvest a year, therefore we treat our coffee as a seasonal product, and showcase its origin’s natural, regional flavors. Our coffee is hand-crafted in small batches and is ever changing depending on quality, season and roast.
